Congratulations to Onacila for the reception of ChinaSat 9.Also thank you for the presentation of ABS-S receiver for DXers from Romania Smile

I confess that I am not interested in the ABS-S receiver,rather TBS 8930 card.It's a simple receiver without too many features and options,as it appears in your review.For me it's more important to catch the signal than to see programs.I would prefer an antenna at least 2.2 m, especially because I would be able to receive the ChinaSat 9 sat at 5.99 elevation from my city,Cluj-Napoca.
But of course if I catch the useful signal from the satellite,I'll buy this receiver if does not appear in the meantime on the market pc card from Tenow.
Once again thanks for the news about ABS-S and 92.2 E position and for your willingness to help us get this receiver.I expect you to visit more often our forum.

@sato: thank you for your detailed presentation. I have to admit, that I didn't even know about the ABS system.
My question: is it possible somehow to monitor the signal with regular DVB-S/S2 receivers or PC cards? I understand that those tuners can not demodulate ABS tps, but it would be good to monitor somehow the signal, to know if we receive that satellite position or not. I see there is know "regular" (DVB-S/S2) transmission on ChinaSat 9 to use it for signal measuring.

You can check the signal by using any PC card that allows you to do a spectrum scan as it is shown on our pictures in the report.
The second option is to use a satellite meter that has a spectrum analyser.
You won`t get any information if you scan ABS-S signals (no lock, no C/N or Ber), but you can make sure that you can see the satellite and signal is strong enough. Compared to other satellites with similar strength.
